Nitrous oxide, also referred to as N20, is used to freeze the stalk of the skin tag, thereby interrupting blood flow and effectively killing it.
Depending on the size of the skin tag, the nurse may need to apply the device more than once during the same treatment session.
While most skin tags can be effectively treated in one session, unusually large tags may require a second treatment during a subsequent session.
After the procedure, clients may experience a slight tingling sensation in the treated area. While the treatment itself is not painful, some individuals may feel a mild stinging sensation for the remainder of the day.
Following cryotherapy treatment, the skin tag will darken in colour over the next few days and may feel dry and crusty. This indicates that the skin tag is dying.
Within a few days, the skin tag will naturally fall off. A small mark may remain where the tag was, but this will fade over time.
Once the area has healed, clients can resume their normal skincare routine.
